Updating PCCharge OCX files
You have disregard this email if:
- If you do not use PCCharge Payment Server within your TransActPOS installation or
- You have confirmed that your workstations are using the PCCharge 5.8.0.1 OCX files (Step 4 below)
Otherwise:
You are required to update your PCCharge Payment Server to version 5.8.1 as one of the steps in PCI compliance and updating of the workstation OCX files is required for correct operation of your PCCharge installation. If the OCX files located on the workstation are not the correct version,
PCCharge can have unpredictable results.
After the update of the PCCharge Payment Server to 5.8.1, each workstation which accepts credit card payments will need to have it's PCCharge OCX files un-registered, updated and re-registered. To help you in this process, a set of OCX files and a batch routine are available for you on the
www.transactpos.com website in a compressed file.
The following steps should help you complete the process of updating the PCCharge OCX files on the workstations.
1) To download this file click on here. The specific file being downloaded is "PCCharge OCX Files and Batch File Routine" found within the "Files" tab at www.transactpos.com. Since this file will be needed at multiple workstations, it would be best to save this file to a shared folder, for instance "M:\Downloads\PCChargeUpdate". If the folder does not exist, you may create the folder during the download process.
2) Next, locate the OCX-Update.zip file within the download folder and decompress the file by right clicking the file and then selecting "Extract All". By default the system will extract the contents of the file into a OCX-Update folder.
3) Open the OCX-Update folder and then double click on the "PCC-r" batch file. The batch routine will un-register any existing PCCharge OCX files, copy the new OCX files into the C:\TransActPOS directory and then re-register the new OCX files. Each un-registration and registration will present you with an OK prompt. Simply click OK to continue.
4) To confirm the correct OCX files are in place, locate the CHARGE.OCX file located within the C:\TransActPOS directory, right click on the file and select Properties. Select the Version tab within the "Charge.OCX Properties" page and make note of the Version number. The Version should be 5.8.0.1.
Repeat the update process for each workstation which utilizes PCCharge Payment Server. If you have placed the OCX-Update folder in a shared location, simply return to this folder and repeat steps 3 and 4. Otherwise, repeat steps 1 through 4 for each workstation.
